Society can be understood as a collection of errors that we continuously seek to detect, reduce, compensate for, or occasionally preserve because they serve useful purposes.
Knowledge, institutions, markets, organizations, and technologies all contain error. Human progress consists not of achieving perfection but of continually improving our ability to manage error.
